Do you have a passion for the last, the lost and the least? Are you willing to sacrifice a year of comfort and security to serve as a missionary on the front lines amongst Sydney’s urban poor? If the answer is yes, then perhaps the Edify Internship is for you.
The Edify Internship is an accredited 10 month residential training program which runs from February to November each year. Prepare yourself for a rollercoaster year of service, relationship building, challenge and celebration. You will live incarnationally (on-site) and in community (with others) and will be intentionally discipled and mentored. The Edify Internship will equip you to love and serve the poor, and assist you in developing theological understanding and practical skills which will empower you to live in urban poor communities and work with at-risk young people.
During the Edify Internship you will also study to achieve a Certificate IV in Youth Work (CHC41808), a nationally recognised qualification that will make you employable in any youth specific service or organisation within Australia and beyond. It’s our heart that every Internship participant would return ‘home’ confronted, renewed and empowered to better serve the lost, the last and the least in their context.
Accepted applicants will receive a complete mission experience serving the poor in the urban cauldron of Surry Hills, where a walk down the main street reveals the disparate co-existence of affluence and poverty. Additionally they will also gain exposure to several domestic missional expressions across Sydney and New South Wales.
