A while ago I wrote about Bible Illuminated – a slick and sexy magazine-style publication of the New Testament. It seems that there are Bibles to suit the taste and convictions of a wide demographic of people, as the other day I stumbled upon the Poverty and Justice Bible.
This Bible is written in a contemporary English style, and all verses that have some relation to God’s attitude to poverty and injustice have been highlighted to show the reader how frequent and prevalent poverty and justice are mentioned within the Scriptures.
This is not a book review nor a critique of the Poverty and Justice Bible – although it is interesting to note that if we were to omit the thousands of verses about the Bible’s views of injustice and concern for the poor, we’d be reading a different book!

I’d also recommend you to read Major Geoff Ryan’s insightful little essay about how he wants his own Bible too. Read his thoughts here.
Here’s the continuation of Major Campbell Roberts‘ lecture on the centrality of Biblical justice.
Over the next few days I will be posting up some thoughts from Major Campbell Roberts of The Salvation Army on the centrality of Biblical justice.
